Estimator (Cadet)
Queensland Glass is a specialist contractor involved in the design, supply, and installation of architectural aluminium, glazing and environmental graphics.
Founded in 1992 with over 70 direct employees we are one of Australia’s premier suppliers to the construction industry. Our enviable portfolio includes a wide range of large-scale external projects, Internal office fit outs and bespoke engineered solutions.
With a strong pipeline of projects already secured, we are looking for an entry position estimator to complement our existing team.
Responsibilities:
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, and other project documents to create accurate and detailed submissions (projects ranging from $10k – $1 million.
- Prepare and submit bid proposals to contractors, ensuring all required documents and information is included.
- Collaborate with our project and design teams to ensure that costs are in line with the project scope and budget.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage existing and build new client relationships.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of project tenders and bidding history.
- Keep up-to-date with market trends and industry changes
Requirements:
- Industry experience is preferred, however suitable candidates from similar disciplines and varying levels of experience will be considered.
- Willingness to work collaboratively with clients, project managers, and other team members.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to sales
- Analytical mindset and good mathematical skills, with the ability to interpret data and create accurate cost estimates under supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Display good time management with ability to work autonomously.
- A team player.
Desirable (Not essential)
- Industry experience.
- Knowledge of Australian Standards including AS1288, Glass in Buildings – Selection and Installation
- Understanding of project requirements (Acoustic, thermal, structural etc).
- Knowledge of architectural aluminium systems and Australian standards.
- Experience using industry software such as V6 or Logikal
